When should you order a wedding cake in Bodrum?

Season pressure, tastings, design sign-off and deposits — how to plan the timeline for a wedding cake in Bodrum, step by step.

An engagement cake with a pearl heart and a dried-flower wreath

The Bodrum wedding season runs from May to October, and Saturday evenings in that window book out almost completely. When you need to order the cake depends on that pressure.

Short answer

  • Saturday wedding, June–September: 8–10 weeks ahead
  • Weekday wedding in season: 4–6 weeks ahead
  • Off-season (November–April): 2–3 weeks ahead
  • Engagement, civil ceremony, small reception: 1–2 weeks ahead

Those windows are for holding the date. The design can be settled later.

The timeline

10 weeks out — tell us the date. The design does not need to exist yet. The date, an estimated guest count and the venue are enough. We reserve the slot.

6 weeks out — tasting. Come in for a tasting appointment. We usually present four or five options, with the sponge, the cream and the soaking syrup each chosen separately. Season matters as much as taste: for an August wedding, most couples move away from heavy chocolate towards lemon and raspberry.

4 weeks out — design sign-off. Colour, tiers, coating and decoration. Send us a photo of the invitation, the table linen or a detail of the dress and we will build the palette around it. We share a sketch at this stage.

2 weeks out — final guest count. Portions are fixed here. There is room to go up by 15–20 people afterwards; reducing the count after this point does not change the price.

3 days out — delivery details. Venue address, setup time, table position and the coordinator’s contact. We assemble tiered cakes ourselves.

Deposit and cancellation

Wedding cakes are reserved with a deposit. The deposit exists because that Saturday is closed to other orders — a mid-season weekend cancellation cannot be filled.

Cancellation terms are confirmed in writing when you book. In summary: full refund up to 30 days out, and after that a date change subject to availability.

Three common mistakes

Ordering before checking with the venue. Some hotels do not accept outside cakes, or charge a cutting fee. Ask first.

Not checking refrigeration. If the cake is delivered early, the venue needs chilled space for it. A three-tier cake does not fit in a standard fridge.

Delaying the cutting for photographs. At a summer wedding, the longer the cake waits, the greater the risk. Moving the cutting earlier in the run of the evening is a good idea.

If you have a date

We can discuss design later — tell us the date first. For July and August Saturdays in particular, booking early is the only real solution.
